Living the green dream

I've moved a step closer to living the green dream - this time with the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP)! This coupled with PV, a home battery, and an electric car (and EV charging to go with it!), means I’m getting close in my personal life to achieving the fabled zero carbon.

I recently took advantage of a scheme by OVO, organised by RetrofitWorks Limited, installed by Ecolution Group, for my ASHP. This is an initiative funded by the government called the ‘Electrification of Heat’ (EOH).

There’s a misconception that achieving ‘the green life’ is expensive. There are many such initiatives as mentioned, incentives, and funding mechanisms to finance the purchase of green technologies, including electric cars. The two obvious benefits are a reduction in everyday running costs, of both home and car, and a reduction of harmful emissions into the environment.

However, until the world adopts a polluter-pays policy, we’re never really calculating the true savings being made by these new technologies.

On a personal note, there is a real fantastic feel-good factor! Every step you make to getting nearer to zero-carbon simply feels awesome.
