Ecolution installed two 30 kWp solar PV systems for Mark Luck Ltd, a leading construction haulage company based in Swanley, Kent.

Mark Luck Ltd is a family business established in 1929. Since then the business has moved premises and is continuously growing, expanding their vehicle fleet to 38 tippers, 6 grab and 2 articulated lorries, plus various different plant. The company not only provides waste services to the construction and building industry; they also supply all types of primary aggregates, recycled aggregates and topsoils.

With two electricity meters and multiple businesses on site, Ecolution proposed 2 x 30 kWp solar PV systems and in doing so kept below the ‘deemed export’ feed-in tariff threshold which maximised the benefit for Mark Luck Ltd.

The reason for this decision was that solar PV systems over 30 kWp usually have to install an export meter even if no power is planned to be exported to the grid. Making the recommendation to install two separate systems ensured that the business still receives a collective system size of 60 kWp reducing the businesses energy bills but also ensuring they receive a higher income from their Feed-In Tariff.

Mark Luck have been able to reduce the businesses outgoings, with its PV system which is generating year on year approximately 58,500 kWh of free electricity and offsetting approximately 31 metric tonnes of C0₂ emissions per year. This commitment to reducing carbon footprint is mirrored in Mark Luck Ltd’s modern and fuel efficient fleet of trucks.
